Reminder: Strict training protocols-temperatures are to be taken at home!

Parents/Players,

As we witness a national surge in COVID we wish to remind everyone participating in open gyms that they must follow the protocols established by the school district.    Athletes are not required to wear face coverings while actively engaged in practice or competition but we ask they have a mask with them.  Athletes are required to wear a face covering if they are on the sidelines and cannot be more than 6 feet apart.  During off season workouts we need to make sure that athletes are more than 6 feet apart when they are arriving, leaving, taking a drink break, etc  to avoid athletes taking masks on and off, multiple times during a workout.  When athletes arrive and put their bags down make sure the bags are more than 6 feet apart, that way athletes will be less likely to congregate during arrival, breaks, etc.

Pre workout  paperwork for each session MUST have confirmation that the family has completed the required temperature check – this is not optional.

We put the safety of the boys and our coaching staff first and foremost.  We encourage families to continue to follow the CDC guidelines.

The Elizabethtown Area School District unanimously approved its Athletic Health and Safety Plan at its June 23, 2020, regularly scheduled school board meeting. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 health pandemic, the plan outlines how the District plans to safely resume fall sports activities later this month. The plan conforms to the Pennsylvania Department of Education mandate that school districts board-approve an athletic plan prior to the resumption of school district affiliated athletic activities.

The Athletic Health and Safety Plan goes into effect immediately and is for the fall sports season only. Per the Athletic Health and Safety Plan, EASD fall athletic programs will begin allowing voluntary off-season workouts for fall sports ONLY on Monday, June 29, 2020. In order to participate in the voluntary off-season workouts, TWO FORMS need to be signed:

  1. Consent to Participate and Emergency Contact form – this form must be completed and turned in to the coach before the first workout that you attend.

  2. Pre-workout Health Screening form – this form must be completed and turned in to the coach before EVERY workout that you attend.

EASD – Participation Consent and Release

If the guidance from the state changes, our Athletic Health and Safety Plan will be updated accordingly and re-communicated with our families.

If you have any questions about the Athletic Health and Safety Plan, please contact William Templin, EASD Director of Athletics, by email at william_templin@etownschools.org.
